We’ve added a new user info box on all pages.
The user info box can show two things:
- Your user information: when you are viewing your own photos, or managing your own account
- Information on another user: when you are viewing photos or albums by other users
The info box shows generic things such as your username, how many photos you’ve uploaded and how many albums you’ve created.
Any extra info you’ve added on your account edit page and approved for public is also shown, for example your interests and your country.
With this new user info box in place, we decided to remove the old profile info column that used to be shown on the left hand side of some pages. The info box respects your privacy settings, if you make your profile private, the box will not shown to others.
We also made various other, smaller changes in our site layout to improve user-friendliness.
We hope you like it, let us know how we can further improve the site.
Hi IMGboot users
There have been some minor changes in the recent weeks, here’s a quick overview:
- Installed new comment system by Disqus:
We felt our old provider wasn’t keeping the system up to date, and on top of that they were increasing fees. We feel the new system by Disqus is more practical and easier to use, but what do you think? - The feedback system (small button on the left side of each page) has been disabled due to lack of use. Instead we would like to promote our blog to generate feedback. If you have a suggestion, or is something bothering you? Just let us know via the comments, or via our contact form.
- Our blog should be more than just news, so we’ve moved it from imgboot.com/news/ to imgboot.com/blog/
- We’ve been continually updating the site layout / design: we gathered from comments that you prefer a lighter, cleaner site. To this end we’ve been making minor changes here and there. We’re still open to suggestions, just post a comment below
We welcome feedback, just post a comment below!
The site address structure has been updated to improve consistency.
- Your profile page now resides at /user/
- Your albums now reside at /user/album-name/
- Photos that are part of an album now reside at /user/album-name/
- And photos that are not part of an album reside at /user/images/
No worries about needing to update your old links, visitors are automatically forwarded to the new link if they visit an old link.
The update also includes new addresses for some of IMGboot’s pages, various minor improvements, and the home page now links to examples so people considering to join can have a sneak-peek at how IMGboot looks.
After months of hard work, we’ve finally completed a major overhaul of the site.
The goal was not just to add new functionality, but also make the site more easy and pleasant to use.
Two things you can’t miss:
- New website – we’ve done away with the old site design (we’d been using that same old design since 2005!)
- New identity – we felt an upgrade this large shapes a new identity, that’s why we’ve created a new logo
We’ve also added new functionality:
- Album slideshow
- Album carousel
We also improved various other areas such as the image page, the profile page and overall privacy & security.
Let us know what you think by posting a comment or submit an idea in our feedback box.
We’re already planning new updates !
Welcome to the new IMGboot news section!
We have replaced our old news sections with this new news section. This news section runs on new software that makes updating easier for us, but more importantly adds some extra functionality for you.
New functionality:
- Browse through news archive
- Keyword-based search through news archive
- Comment on news articles
We’re already working on our next large upgrade: a complete overhaul of the web albums and album management functionality.
